Los Angeles, CA – A man was killed when two vehicles crashed into each other in Valley Center on Sunday night. Consequently, his truck was propelled off the road and through a fence, finally smashing into a tree.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicles were driving along the same direction on Valley Center Road when the truck suddenly swerved into the other car’s lane. This was at approximately 7:40 p.m.
The reckless driving truck smacked into the left side of the sedan, forcing the driver of the car to lose command of the vehicle and peel off to the right. Finally, this led the truck through a wooden a fence and rushing down an embankment where it finally overturned on top of a tree.
According to the CHP, the truck was awkwardly positioned atop the tree making it very difficult for firefighters to access the driver. The man, a 52-year-old who lived in Escondido was pronounced dead at the location.
Fortunately, the female teen driver and her passenger escaped the incident without any type of injuries. CHP officers are still investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the tragic crash.
In fact, the scene was searched for clues and studied by the CHP for many hours afterwards. It shut down Valley Center for most of the night. At around 11:30 p.m. one of the lanes was reopened. However, the second late remained close until well after midnight.
